Top SchoolVictor Schappert is a Principal Engineer with 13 years of software engineering experience, currently building AWS geospatial services and contributing to the Overture Maps Foundation from Vancouver. His career blends deep systems and platform work at Amazon Web Services with earlier R&D and engineering roles at Bloomberg and startups, plus a unique detour through legal training and articling. Victor has a strong academic foundation in computer science (BMath, Waterloo) and law (J.D., UBC), which informs a pragmatic, audit-conscious approach to complex engineering problems. He has shipped language and runtime work—having ported the Suneido dynamic language to the JVM—and excels at bridging legacy systems and modern cloud-native architectures. Colleagues describe him as a thoughtful technical leader who pairs hands-on implementation with strategic design for scalable, map-centric services.
