Summary
👤
SeniorViesturs Proškins is a video-focused solutions architect and engineering leader with 12+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating low-latency, globally distributed streaming platforms. As Head of Video at Playtech and former Head of Video R&D at Evolution Gaming, he combines deep engineering chops (encoding, distributed systems, Debian-based tooling) with board-level technical advisory and cloud cost ownership at the scale of 0→€1M+ yearly AWS spend. He has repeatedly taken nascent ideas from solo prototypes to production—building encoder fleets, multi-geo delivery networks, and cloud-native architectures optimized for resilience and QoE. Comfortable both “getting hands dirty” and shaping strategy, he hires and scales teams while keeping R&D and prototyping central to competitive advantage. Based in Riga, he’s passionate about pushing low-latency limits and has a track record of turning video research into operational platforms used for millions of hours of streaming monthly. An early hacker-entrepreneur, he still blends startup grit with enterprise-grade architecture.
