Summary
👤
SeniorViet Truong is a Principal Software Engineer with 11 years of experience leading UI and platform engineering across console, mobile, and web in the gaming space. He specializes in enabling designers and creative partners to realize ambitious interfaces, favoring engineering that empowers product creativity over building flashy UI for its own sake. At Riot Games and previously Undead Labs and PlayStation, he’s led cross-functional teams, shipped major features like TFT’s first limited-time event mode, and helped launch PlayStation Now on Windows. He co-collaborated with Mojang to open-source a React-based game UI library and has a strong practical focus on TypeScript and performant web-driven game UI. Known for elevating team practices—automating design handoff, establishing architecture standards, and mentoring successors—he thrives in inclusive environments where every voice matters. Based in Irvine, CA, he’s a self-described “web apologist” who pairs deep systems thinking with a gamer’s passion (Shadow of the Colossus is a noted favorite).
