Top SchoolVikas Pejaver is an Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai who brings eight years of focused experience developing machine learning methods for biomedical data, spanning protein sequences and structures, genomes, and electronic health records. He holds a PhD in Informatics (Bioinformatics) from Indiana University Bloomington and transitioned from a productive postdoc at the University of Washington where he applied ML and data science to EHR-based phenotyping. Vikas combines deep computational expertise with domain experience in genomics, having worked on gene model refinement, ChIP-seq integration, and gene cluster detection earlier in his career. Based in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, he balances academic leadership with hands-on method development, translating complex biological data into actionable models. Notably, his trajectory shows a consistent thread of integrating diverse data types to solve real-world biomedical questions, rather than focusing on a single modality.
