Will Alpine is a Responsible AI product leader, sociotechnical systems architect, and climate activist who builds policy, product, and open-source guardrails to align emerging technologies with climate science. As a former Microsoft product manager he helped ship Responsible AI and carbon-aware features across AzureML, co-authored Microsoft’s sustainability playbook, and co-founded Green Software Engineering efforts including the Carbon Aware SDK. He now co-leads the Enabled Emissions Campaign, challenging harmful technology uses that enable fossil fuel expansion through advocacy and coalition-building. With an M.S. in Technology Innovation and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Will combines hands-on engineering (four patents from SolarCity/Tesla Energy) with product and standards work spanning GenAI, MLOps, carbon reporting, and energy-efficient computing. Based in Seattle, he translates interdisciplinary research into practical tools and policy, and outside of work he channels the same systems-thinking energy into plant-based adventure athletics across the Pacific Northwest.
