Summary
William Brouwer is a Principal HPC Engineer with 12+ years of experience building and optimizing GPU, HPC and cloud-native solutions for physics, computer vision, document engineering and O&G applications. He combines deep numerical and systems expertise (C/C++, CUDA, MPI, OpenMP) with practical cloud orchestration and CI skills, having scaled simulations to 1k+ cores on Azure RDMA and delivered 300x GPU speedups at Q Bio. At SLB he architects next-generation coiled-tubing and microseismic platforms, and previously led HPC consulting, teaching and CUDA center initiatives at Penn State that secured hardware donations and broad community adoption. Comfortable moving between low-level performance tuning and service-oriented architectures, he also brings a collaborative, cross-disciplinary mindset honed by mentoring, grant work and production support. Outside of work he’s an Australian-born Houston resident with a long marriage, a young son, a penchant for live music and a hands-on streak evident in renovating an 1860 house and collecting classic vehicles.
