Senior🎓
Top SchoolWilliam Matthews is a software engineer with 8 years of hands-on experience combining data-driven signal processing, embedded systems and AI, currently building at Neat after his stealth-AI startup Avos was acquired. He holds a First Class MEng and a DPhil from Oxford in optical wireless communications and has applied that photonics expertise to practical measurement problems like blade tip timing and clearance at PrOXisense. Comfortable across hardware and software stacks, he has led vehicle electronics and telemetry work for Oxford University Racing and migrated complex MATLAB toolchains into production-grade Python. William also has quantitative trading and algorithmic experience, and a habit of exploring ML/AI projects in his spare time—described wryly on GitHub as a “photonics magician turned AI shaman.” Based in London, he blends rigorous academic research with pragmatic engineering and a knack for turning noisy sensor data into actionable insight.
