Winston Cheung is a software engineer and Carnegie Mellon computer science and robotics student with a decade of hands-on experience building autonomous and distributed systems. He currently develops low-latency C++ infrastructure at Jump Trading, after internships where he integrated autonomy stacks and remote guidance features for self-driving vehicles and built benchmarking tooling for critical trading paths. Winston combines systems-level rigor—teaching introductory computer systems and crafting cross-platform GUIs—with practical robotics work that lowered experimental costs and enabled repeatable motion control. He coaches young engineers in robotics and drone autonomy, and has shipped production Android and REST-integrated applications as well as Python SDKs for aerial robotics. An avid AI programming challenge participant, he enjoys turning novel ideas into reliable, measurable systems and thrives on learning through implementation. Based in Chicago, he’s as comfortable optimizing hot-path C++ as he is mentoring the next generation of makers.
