Top SchoolWonsang You is an associate professor and biomedical data scientist with 14 years of experience applying image processing, machine learning, and time-series analysis to neuroimaging and medical imaging problems. He holds a PhD in neural networks and has led translational projects from theoretical models of fractal brain dynamics to practical deep-learning tools for automated fetal brain and placenta MRI analysis. His work at Children's National Hospital produced end-to-end platforms for fetal MRI big-data processing and novel preprocessing methods that enabled clinical biomarkers of impaired fetal development. Now directing AIIP and LUNA labs in South Korea, he builds brain-inspired generative AI, 3D medical reconstruction, and interdisciplinary projects that bridge art, life sciences, and bio-data. Unusually, his research blends rigorous theoretical neuroscience (nonfractal connectivity) with hands-on productization for clinicians and consumer applications like pet emotion recognition. He aims to develop explainable, brain-like AI systems that are both scientifically principled and clinically impactful.
