Senior🎓
Top SchoolWoonhak Kang is a Senior Software Development Engineer with 11 years focused on cloud-native databases, storage engines, and distributed systems, now working on Amazon Aurora MySQL in San Jose. He brings deep hands-on expertise from multiple senior roles at Oracle (OCI PostgreSQL, MySQL HeatWave) and research-backed systems work at Georgia Tech and eBay, combining product-grade engineering with academic rigor. His Ph.D. research on flash and NVMe storage informs practical optimizations across Postgres, MySQL, SQLite and RocksDB, and he has improved database integrity and benchmarking tools in open-source projects like oltpbench. Known for elevating storage reliability and performance at scale, he pairs kernel-level understanding with managed-cloud service delivery. Colleagues rely on him to bridge performance research and production systems, often finding non-obvious gains by rethinking I/O paths and schema constraints.
