Top SchoolWouter Tiest is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science with nine years of higher-education experience and a PhD in physics, who has pivoted from low-temperature experimental physics to leading research and teaching in haptic perception and human-robot interaction. He blends hands-on skills in designing and building experimental apparatus with strong software, data analysis and visualization capabilities to turn psychophysical questions into reproducible experiments and clear results. At institutions including Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Hogeschool Rotterdam he has supervised graduate students, managed EU-funded projects, and published on material and shape perception by touch. Colleagues value his ability to bridge rigorous quantitative methods with accessible teaching, and he often leverages creative experimental setups to reveal subtle aspects of tactile perception that are not obvious from standard measures.
