Xavier Teruel-garcia is a Team Lead and senior researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center with 19 years of experience in high-performance computing, parallel programming, performance analysis and co-design. He holds an engineering degree and a Master in Computer Architecture, Networks and Systems from UPC and has co-led the BePPP team since 2018, driving best practices for performance and programmability. Xavier has long-standing involvement with the OpenMP Language Committee and a rare blend of research and industry experience from a multi-year collaboration with IBM’s XL compiler team. He regularly leads work packages and teaching activities, publishes in international venues, and brings practical compiler and tooling insights to large EU projects. Colleagues know him for translating deep systems research into usable performance engineering methods that improve real-world HPC applications.
