Summary
Yan Ye is a video coding expert and standards leader with over 20 years of experience designing, implementing, and standardizing video and image compression technologies. He currently serves as Associate Rapporteur at ITU-T VCEG and chairs INCITS L3.1 while leading video standards and codec implementation at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, bridging research, product, and large-scale cloud deployments. Yan authored numerous JVT/VCEG proposals, is deeply familiar with reference softwares (JM, KTA, JSVM), and has a track record of turning standardization ideas into patentable, production-ready codecs and accelerations. His hands-on work spans post-loop deblocking, error concealment, scalable and multi-view coding (SVC/MVC), and AI-enhanced video research such as GAN-based face compression. Based in San Diego with a PhD from UC San Diego, he also brings cross-domain exposure to network virtualization and system performance from his research activity. Colleagues know him for rare combination of standards diplomacy, deep algorithmic craftsmanship, and practical optimization for real-time and cloud-scale systems.
