Top SchoolYangrui Fan is a Senior Software Engineer with eight years of professional experience building scalable web applications and machine learning systems. Trained at UC Berkeley and UIUC in EECS and CS, he combines full-stack development (Ruby on Rails, Python, Java, C) with hands-on ML implementation and evaluation using TensorFlow, Chainer, and Caffe. At Smith & Associates he has progressed from engineer to senior roles, applying strong software design principles, CI/CD, TDD/BDD practices, and a focus on usability and scalability. Earlier internships show a blend of production engineering and applied research—he built a web crawler and real-time data pipeline with OpenCV filtering and prepared labeled datasets, and prototyped ensemble DL models to guide tooling choices. Yangrui’s practical approach emphasizes shipping maintainable systems informed by research, and he’s comfortable moving between data collection, model building, and production engineering. Colleagues describe him as a pragmatic problem-solver who thinks like an engineer and a scientist when delivering solutions.
