Top SchoolYifei Gao is a Front-end Engineer and creative technologist based in New York with nine years of experience building interactive web experiences and tooling. They specialize in responsive, content-driven front ends—recently developing a digital interactive edition of The Nature of Code using Gatsby.js, p5.js integrations, and custom Node.js pipelines to convert Notion-authored content into a polished web book. Yifei blends design-minded front-end work with automation, having implemented Notion + GitHub Actions + Netlify workflows and bespoke scripts to generate dynamic syllabi, examples, and documentation. Their open-source contributions include enhancing the widely used nature-of-code book site with embedded sketches, KaTeX support, and a responsive layout, reflecting a knack for turning creative ideas into maintainable developer workflows. With an MPS from NYU’s ITP and a BE in Computer Science, they bring both artistic curiosity and engineering rigor to projects that sit at the intersection of code, media, and pedagogy.
