Top SchoolYoshiharu Dewa is a seasoned broadcast and multimedia engineer with over 30 years of experience designing consumer electronics platforms and standardizing interactive multimedia formats. He has led TV R&D teams and driven application distribution strategies for hybrid broadcast systems (Hybridcast, HbbTV, ATSC 3.0), combining deep technical expertise in codec and middleware development with hands-on implementation from his early work on MHEG and BD-J. A frequent contributor to international SDOs (ARIB, DVB, W3C, ATSC, IPTV Forum), he bridges research, industry practice, and policy—often shaping specs that enable internet-enabled television services. His career spans industry leaders and academia, including long tenures at Sony and LG Japan Lab and recent research appointment at Hokkaido University, reflecting a rare mix of product delivery, standards leadership, and academic rigor. Not obviously apparent from his CV, he also designs workshops and programs, signaling a talent for translating complex technical topics into teachable, practical formats.
