Yunyu Xiao is an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine and New York–Presbyterian with a decade of experience applying data science to suicide research and health disparities. With a Ph.D. from NYU and an MPhil from the University of Hong Kong, she combines rigorous quantitative methods with mixed-methods fieldwork to study suicidal behaviors across sociodemographic groups and countries. Her work spans academic appointments and translational projects, from longitudinal poverty studies and policy evaluations in Hong Kong to suicide prevention research in the U.S. She brings rare cross-cultural fluency—having taught and led research in both Hong Kong and New York—which informs her comparative approach to intervention design. Known for creativity and methodological rigor, she translates complex data into actionable insights for clinicians, policymakers, and communities.
