Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolZachary Townsend is a founder and CEO with 12 years of experience building regulated financial products at the intersection of crypto and traditional insurance. As co-founder and leader of Meanwhile, he’s pioneering long-term life insurance for the crypto economy, bringing products to market that are both licensed and compliant. His background spans startup product leadership (Standard Treasury, acquired by SVB) and strategy roles at McKinsey, plus public-sector technology and data leadership in Newark and California, reflecting an unusual mix of entrepreneurship, policy, and operational rigor. He pairs an applied math and public policy education with YC founder training to navigate technical, regulatory, and business tradeoffs. Outside work he signals an engineer’s discipline in daily rhythms—his GitHub contribution heatmap humorously tracks when he sleeps and wakes on schedule. Based in San Francisco, he blends product-driven execution with a knack for creating auditable, trust-first financial infrastructure.
