Zsolt Kira is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of ML@GT at Georgia Tech who blends academic leadership with hands-on research in machine and deep learning for robot perception. Over a decade of work spanning GTRI and SRI has produced novel methods for multi-modal fusion, concept discovery, continual learning, and distributed knowledge sharing in heterogeneous robot teams. He has a track record of translating basic research into funded applied projects (NSF, DARPA, ONR and IC programs) while mentoring graduate students and teaching deep learning courses. His work uniquely emphasizes scalable, efficient implementations for real-world robotic perception—evident from early on in projects like on-the-move pedestrian detection—and a continued interest in large-scale inference from diverse sensors.
